Preserving Beauty: Belle Isle Conservancy
Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park located in Detroit with historic, environmental, and cultural resources that have been beloved for generations. This historic crown jewel is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Belle Isle Nature Center, and the James Scott Memorial Fountain. Alicia Masse serves on the Board of the Belle Isle Conservancy, leading the Finance Committee. The Board hosts several highly acclaimed fundraising events throughout the year to enhance the beauty of this island gem including the Annual Polish the Jewel Belle Isle Legacy Luncheon, The Grand Prixmiere, and the Garden Party on Belle Isle.
Treasuring Culture: Detroit Institute of Arts
The DIA has been a grand pillar of culture for the Detroit area for well over a century. Founded in 1885, the DIA’s collection today is among the top six in the United States. A unique feature of the DIA is the diversity of its art collection. In addition to outstanding American, European, Modern and Contemporary, and Graphic art, the museum holds significant works of African, Asian, Native American, Oceanic, Islamic, and Ancient art. Alicia Masse serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Asian Arts and Cultures Auxiliary.
Nourishing our Roots: The Parade Company
America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Art Van, was founded in 1924. For more than 75 years, The Parade has become a compilation of fantasy, holiday magic and community enthusiasm. Alicia Masse is a member of the Distinguished Clown Corps, a group of key civic and corporate leaders in Detroit and surrounding suburbs. For three decades, over 2,000 clowns have created a magical experience for millions as they make their annual appearance at America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Downtown Detroit.
Promoting a Safer World: HAVEN
HAVEN, a nationally recognized nonprofit leader in Oakland County, Michigan promotes a world of safe, equal and accountable communities providing hope and healing to women and children in crisis. HAVEN’s mission is to empower survivors through advocacy and social change. HAVEN provides shelter, counseling, advocacy and educational programming to nearly 20,000 people each year. Alicia Masse serves as Trustee of HAVEN Foundation.
